Northern Ireland was relatively undiscovered territory for us until we decided to stop talking about it and just make the trip. Travelling from Cork was always one of the stumbling blocks but after a little research into it we discovered a number of good stop off points on the way. The d Hotel in Dundalk is only approx 1.5 hours from Belfast city or 2.5 hours from Portrush located at the top on the causeway coast so it is a great place to break the journey.
We spent the first few days of our trip in Portrush (North of County Antrim) which is an excellent family coastal town for those wishing to visit the famous attractions for the Causeway Coast and the second leg of our tour in Belfast to take in the Titanic Quater and all Belfast had to offer us.
Portrush is approx 1.5 hours from Belfast and Belfast was an hour and a half from Dublin. Belfast itself was a small city and easy to get around. The natives are very friendly and welcoming. There is plenty to do and in close proximity to each other. Check out the options below to plan your Northern Ireland break.
