The stage is being set for yet another Aviva and Cork Opera House panto extravaganza. The outstanding Cork Opera House production team, who uniquely claim the accolade for delivering Ireland’s only 5-star panto for 2 years running, are set to deliver another blockbuster this year with Peter Pan.
Opening on the 30th of November Peter Pan – the boy who could fly and his friends will dazzle and delight audiences over a 68-show run that will continue through the New Year period until the 20th of January. Families and fans of all ages keen to enter the spirit of adventure, mischief and fun are already booking online ensuring they can join Peter, the Darlings, fairies, pirates, mermaids and Captain Hook and of course everyone’s rambunctious favourite Nanny Nellie.
Cork Opera House CEO Eibhlín Gleeson says ‘The sense of anticipation is already in the air. This is such a special time of year for us. The crew are in full-scale creative mode and audiences can expect a high-octane production with high-flying thrills and spills blended with magical, charming and delightfully funny and villainous performances from a stellar cast. We are grateful for the ongoing superb support of the people of Cork. They deserve “The Best Panto in Ireland” and that’s what we aim to deliver again this year!’
Peter Pan Director, Trevor Ryan, is feeling the pace and energy of this special production, ‘‘Peter Pan is just a perfect show for audience engagement. There will be swashbuckling, buccaneering and we will be relying on audiences to clap for our magical Tinkerbell, keep a watchful eye on the dastardly Captain Hook, laugh along with Nanny Nellie and cheer on Peter Pan, Wendy and pals on their daring adventures. It’s going to be fun!”
There will be an all-star line-up this year. The fantastically brilliant Frank Mackey returns to the stage as Nanny Nellie. Our mischievous title hero Peter Pan is played by the high-flying Scott Hayward. Wendy is played by Phoebe Dipple, a richly talented musician, vocalist and student of our very own CIT Cork School of Music. Michael Grennell returns as the superbly menacing Captain Hook and a West End star, the wonderful Sam Lupton, is playing Mr. Smee. Joining them all on stage is a full cast of fabulous professional dancers, musicians and the wonderful young talent from Cork’s stage schools.
The panto loving audience of Cork are safe in the hands of Aviva this year as title sponsors. So, all are welcome to come along this season and enter a magical world where family and fun time is the top priority of Cork Opera House, where you can laugh out loud, boo and cheer and experience the pure joy of a world-class pantomime production.
